My Favorite Celebrity

 S. Panibharatha 

My favorite celebrity is S. Panibharatha. He was born on 24th February 1920 in Hathrakoralaya village.


He is in Sri Lanka and he is a famous Up country dancer. His dancing teacher was his uncle and he was adopted as Algama kiriganitha. He was a master of drumming not only for upland dance. tradition but also for other traditions. He has a daughter . she is a Upuli panibharatha and she also a dancer. Currently she is also married to a dancer and his name is Channa Wijewardana. Panibharatha had been drummer for Mrs Chandraleka Perera. He was appointed as the principal of the government institute of Fine Arts. Mr. S.Panibharatha went to Shanthi Nikethanaya in India on scholarship in 1944 and he studied many things in dancing. Next he was the principal of the government Dance and Drama university. He worked at the University of Kelaniya for 31 years. In 1992, the institute of Aesthetic Studies University of Kelaniya awarded him a P.H.D. ''Narilatha'', ''Berasandhhwani'', Monara natum'' are his famous creations. He also choregraphed '' Kochchiya'', ''Pora pol pitiya'', and ''Thithtaha batha'' ballets. He was able to show the Sri Lankan identity  to the whole world. Like wise , He even traveled to various countries to perform concerts. So much so that he is an expert in dancing. As well as dance, Baliyaga was also talented in sculpture. His birthday was named ''National Dance Day'' in 2006 in recognition of his services. Panibharatha , who did such a service is known as the golden symbol of dance. He left us on 20th of February in 2006. He is still an indelible artist in dance.

  Birds park in Hanthana  I live in Gampola. There are many places to visit Kandy district.  The temple of the tooth, Peradeniya  Botanical Garden, Ambuluwawa, Ambakke, Gadaladeniya , Kinihira, Kandy national Museum, KCC and Hanthana Birds park is some of such places.
